The project consisted of the expansion and redevelopment of the LaSalle Hospital emergency ward on more than 7,400 sq.m. (80,000 sq.ft.) including two new wings, a new main entrance, an outpatient clinic, two mechanical rooms, a new generator and a complete overhaul of the main power feed and the emergency electrical network. The addition of two new loading bays and the new building configuration required raising the Champlain Terrace and major civil engineering work including the relocation of the oil tanks and modifications to all utilities serving the hospital. Asbestos removal work was also necessary in the existing section. The project took place in several phases while keeping the facility operational.
