The project involves the construction of a seven-storey, 210,000 sq.ft. extension that will house the Integrated Trauma Center, the Mother-Child Unit and the Endoscopy Department.
The new Mother-Child Unit will have 20 rooms, including private birth rooms and double rooms for guests who are under observation or on extended stay. The medical team of 25 doctors and 100 nurses will provide care and services 24 hours a day.
The new trauma center will be the largest of its kind in Montreal and serve a regional and national clientele, particularly for spinal cord traumas. It will be equipped with a state-of-the-art simulation center, enabling research, teaching and continuing education for multidisciplinary teams.
The project also includes renovations to the existing building.
